Besonderer Vortrag dieses Mal von
Prof. Paul Abbott 
Paul Abbott is a computational physicist at the University of Western
Australia. Abbott worked for Wolfram Research, Inc. from 1989-1992
and is presently a WRI consultant. He was the founding technical
editor of The Mathematica Journal in 1990 and is presently a journal
columnist.

Abbott uses Mathematica extensively in research and teaching. His
computational science course won an international Undergraduate
Computational Science Education Award in 1995. He is a co-author of
"MathLink: Network Programming with Mathematica" (Cambridge
University Press, 2001).

The Ins & Outs of Mathematica: Approaches to problem solving using
Mathematica

> Abstract:
> The Mathematica Journal commenced publication in
> 1990. Two journal columns -- In and Out and
> Tricks of the Trade -- focus on programming
> tricks and techniques. In this talk I present a
> few of my favorite tips, selected from over sixty
> columns. First, a case is made for
> TraditionalForm, which is used throughout this
> paper and in my journal columns. Then, examples
> of numerical computation, algebra, calculus,
> syntax, and front end programming are presented.
> The goal is to show that the power of the
> Mathematica system results from its consistent
> system design, and the interoperability of its
> large number of built-in high-level functions.

Der Mathematica-Tag findet seit 1999 mehr oder minder regelmaessig an
wechselnden Orten in Berlin statt.
     * Er bietet den Teilnehmern: Aktuelle Informationen zu Mathematica,
       Gelegenheit zum persoenlichen Gedankenaustausch, Diskussionsforum,
       Kennenlernen, Praesentation von Problemen und Arbeiten mit
       Mathematica.
     * Passive Teilnahme ist kostenlos.
     * Aktive Teilnahme wird belohnt mit Mathematica-spezifischen
       Textilien und Ausstattung  (T-Shirt, Tasse, Mauspad oder ae.) *
     * Vorschlaege für Themen etc. sind willkommen.
